Project update
ABP is continuing to develop strategic plans to maintain Southampton’s position as a leading UK and European Port and the local jobs and prosperity that depend on it.
Strong customer demand is creating significant opportunities that ABP need to respond to sooner than the current development timeline for Solent Gateway 2 allows.
To accelerate the delivery of additional capacity, we are looking at how the existing Southampton and Solent Gateway sites might unlock more space in the short term.
Long term, there remains a strong need to develop Solent Gateway 2 to ensure the future competitiveness of the Port of Southampton.
We would like to thank everyone who has engaged with and supported the Solent Gateway 2 project to date. The feedback received from local communities and stakeholders has been greatly appreciated and has helped inform our thinking.
We are updating the long-term Port Masterplan now, which includes our plans for Solent Gateway 2. We will be sharing this with stakeholders and local communities later in 2026.
